Understanding Tendon Injury Management

Tendon Rehabilitation

Tendons not only have the important role of connecting muscles to bone, they also store and release kinetic energy which allows you to run, jump, and perform all sorts of other athletic activities.

Tendons also thrive on load and adapt to exercise in a similiar way to muscle tissue. However, when people start to experience tendon problems they typically stop all activity and rely on passive approaches to managing pain.

The issue with these strategies is the tendon and muscle tissue becomes de-conditioned and leads to a vicious cycle of weakness, pain and fear of activity.

Our approach to managing tendinopathy at Top Performance Physio Chatswood is holistic, as we endeavour to address the biomechanical contributing factors that could be further compounding the condition. We keep you moving during your rehabilitation as much as possible and gradual increase your tendon's load tolerance until you are back at your top performance.
