Understanding Neuropathic Pain Management

Nerve Pain

Our nerves are the telecommunication system of our entire body. The nervous system of the human body is an amazing network of tissue that resembles wires that branch from a central point, the brain. Nerve tissue is incredibly unique from other tissue and provides messages such as sensation, movement and pain.

Unfortunately, different nerves in the body can become injured through direct trauma, or through entrapment/tension secondary to biomechanical and lifestyle based contributing factors.

Due to their unique nature and role, pain arising from nerves can be sharp, tingling, burning, numbing, or even electrical in flavour. This can be particularly distressing for patients.

Our approach to managing neuropathic pain at Top Performance Physio Chatswood is holistic, as we endeavour to address the nerve pain itself, as well as the biomechanical contributing factors that could be further compounding the condition. We then aid in transitioning you back to your chosen activity or sport.
